The first week of this extended YSS trip aboard Cambria saw us shipping our cargo between Tilbury and Ipswich Docks. Former mate Dick Durham joined us at Tilbury for the trip down river before being rowed ashore at Southend, such is the life of a news hound.

The cement was unloaded on Saturday morning having been donated to two good causes, one via the Rotary Club and the other towards work on the hard at Pin Mill.

During the afternoon the Ipswich Maritime Trust held a well attended reception aboard, which included visits from a number of luminaries including Cambria’s last trading skipper Bob Roberts’ daughters Gill and Ann, who had many fond memories of their time aboard many years ago.

After some crew changes Monday sees us departing for ports further south. As ever we have many photos of our adventures on our Facebook page, accessible here.

31/8. IMT Director Stuart Grimwade subsequently supplied us with an album of photos he took on the day, which are available here. They also include a couple of shots of Cambria on the blocks at Pin Mill, where we repainted her before the Thames Match.
